These Instagram Photos will Make you Want to Go to Scandinavia
Our team has traveled to around 60 countries, and guess where most of us are spending, or returning to this summer? Home. While we have some exciting travels ahead and new places to visit as well, but especially our Finnish team, we all are returning to Finland at some point of this summer. Satu, ToDestinationUnknown, is currently in Finland, and I am leaving in a week. Reeta, HouseofAnais, will visit Finland later next month. What can we say? There is something magical about Scandinavian summer. Here are some of my summer photos from Sweden, and scroll down to discover some of the best Instagram travel accounts featuring photos from Scandinavia. Summer in Sweden
Summer has arrived in Sweden. The birds outside my office window are chirping so loud that I sometimes wish they came with a volume button. The farmers markets are even more appealing than a month ago, if I’m lucky, I can already find strawberries, and new potatoes.
See – fresh vegetables and especially fruit and berries taste so much better here than in many other parts of the world because of the longer daylight hours they can soak in. Sun was up before 4AM this morning and it will set around 10PM, and in the between there are dusk and dawn too leaving very little time for darkness, and much time for sun light.
When I drive on the country roads here, the fields are covered in yellow rapeseed, or I see horses playing in their pens.
The canal boats have started their summer operations, and the lakes fill with boats on the weekends.

Instagram travel accounts to follow in Scandinavia
Christoffer Collin from Karlskoga, Sweden, is probably the most well-known Scandinavian Instagrammer, follow his stunning images at Wisslaren.
Fairly unknown Eleina, who is originally from Latvia, also has a serene way of capturing the classic of Swedish countryside summer. Eleina’s photos look like they could be from the 70’s with girls picking flowers while the boys are playing in the farm yard. Follow her as TheEleina.
My absolute favorite account featuring photos from Denmark is SomewhereInCopenhagen. The minimalistic photos bring the essence of Copenhagen, the waterfront, the bicycles, architecture, it’s all there, and you will enjoy the virtual trip to this beautiful city.
Kea is from Finland, but she just got back from Norway and is already packing to leave to Alaska. This adventure girl shows you the best of Scandinavian nature AND street scene, because you never know whether Kea is by boot hiking the mountains or by long board rolling down the streets. Scandinavian Instagram Hashtags
Instagram Travel Thursday co-host in Finland, Nella, NellaHelsinki started a project to showcase the beauty of our home country via Instagram photos, and started using a hashtag #suomiretki (Finland trip) to collect photos from Finland. She is also collecting some of her favorites under Suomiretki account.
In Sweden one of the best quality hashtags to follow is #enjoysweden. The #enjoysweden project collects the best photos from Sweden for books and exhibitions presented world wide. What’s not to love about that?
Visit Norway, the tourism board of Norway, knows that you can’t really snap a bad photo of Norway and they encourage visitors and locals alike to use #VisitNorway hashtag. They also promote the best photos on their Instagram account, Pinterest boards and on their website.
Skimbaco in Scandinavia
Satu is enjoying the Finnish lake views at the moment, before returning back to Norway. Follow ToDestinationUnknown.
Reeta snapped this photo from Trondheim old town in Norway, while she was there on a spring vacation not too long ago. She also did some spring skiing in the Finnish Lapland. Later this summer she will be returning for a visit to Finland as well. Follow HouseOfAnais.
I drive this road everyday to take kids to school here in Sweden. I am so ready for a summer vacation though, and will be traveling to Finland for a few weeks. Follow my travels as Skimbaco. Note: I also won’t be posting an Instagram Travel Thursday post for a few weeks.
