How exciting! Good luck with the run. We are doing the Make-a-Wish annual 5K but we are just walking. Maybe next year I can plan to jog, LOL.

Rock on, Vanessa! I trained for 2 marathons before kids. After I had kids I stopped running for nearly 5 years. Like you, there was always an excuse, and then one day I had run out of excuses. My marathon days are over, but I’m in the middle of training for a half marathon in May. I agree with you, the task of arranging childcare and scheduling runs to fit into a day with young children is no easy task.
I love your honesty about trying to motivate yourself with negative thoughts and how it wasn’t working. I was hoping the weight would slide right off after I started running and that hasn’t been the case. Your post made me realize that instead of focusing on what I’m not losing, perhaps I should be proud of myself for what I’m gaining: a healthier lifestyle, learning to schedule time for me in the day, an amazing accomplishment just to put on your running shoes and head out the door.
Best of luck in your marathon!

Wow! That’s really impressive! Congrats!

Awesome! Good for you, Vanessa! I, too, am training for my first marathon, which is taking place May 3. I am super excited. I ran cross country in high school and have run a 1/2 marathon before, but a full one has been my goal for a long time. I’ll be sure to keep up with your progress as your marathon gets closer!!
