Spread some sunshine while shopping this Holiday Season

So, I had a talk with my children. I asked what they wanted for Christmas this year, and of course you can just guess that it was all those toys, they’ve seen on TV commercials. As you might already know, I’m boycotting Mattel, and I really hope that all the family members will too. Me and the kids talked long how we have our own small business, and when we buy gifts, we would like to buy them from other small businesses, and support other family-owned companies.

We’ll buy toys, which are handmade, or have a whole new message, and a bigger meaning.

“Like your skimbaco-necklace?” asked my daughter. Exactly!

You will find some great gift ideas in my Holiday Gift Guide, and I will also add new categories, like Handmade gifts later (the Etsy sellers tend to sell out some styles so fast, that I’m waiting with that a few weeks).

Also, visit Celebrity Baby Blog and What’s Hot for Tots this month too – you will get great gift ideas from the heart. What’s Hot for Tots has teamed up with March of Dimes to promote awareness of Prematurity and raise money for March of Dimes. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

The Celebrity Baby Blog is hosting A Month of auctions, a charity project benefiting the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic & Institute (NBCI) at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, run by world renowned breastfeeding advocate and pediatrician Dr. Jack Newman. NBCI’s mission is to assist breastfeeding mothers and their babies with breastfeeding challenges. They also provide clinical training for pediatric residents, medical students, nurses, and candidates for those who intend to become International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. Unoftunately the NBCI doesn’t receive funding from the Canadian government anymore, it is in danger of closing. The proceeds of this month’s auctions go for the NBCI.

There are some great products already in the auction, and remember the check them out frequently this month!

We just got a Gold version of our Spread Sunshine Necklace, benefiting a non-profit adoption organization Hope International. And did you know that part of the proceeds of all DeAnna Cochran designer jewelry go for preemies? Or that Tea Collection supports the Global Fund for Children?

There are so many wonderful products out there – and by purchasing them, you can spread sunshine not just for the person who is receiving the gift, but also for those in need.

Ps. I’m posting every day in November – you can visit my NaBloPoMo profile.
