If you are a mom like me, then our nation’s capital is probably on your bucket list. Many of my son’s friends are taking the trip this summer. My family is waiting a while longer to book the historic sightseeing vacation because I think the trip will be more fun for us when my 2-year-old is no longer 2. No explanation needed there, I’m sure.
But the good news for families who are still thinking about making the trip to Washington, D.C., while school is out: There are some great luxury hotel promotions to entice you to visit for under $500 a night.
The Fairmont Washington, D.C, Georgetown is offering 20 percent off room rates now until Sept. 5, 2012. The hotel has also put together the Family Adventure Package, which includes complimentary breakfast daily and will run until the end of this year. We all know that a family trip to D.C. must include a visit to the Smithsonian. With the Smithsonian Experience package, families will receive a $50 food-and-beverage credit, a Smithsonian-inspired arrival amenity, the Smithsonian Magazine, and two tickets to the Smithsonian IMAX Theatres/Einstein Planetarium. With each package booked, the Fairmont will donate $10 to the Smithsonian Museum in order to support its educational mission.
And depending on when you decide to visit, you can snag great deals at both The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown, and The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C., properties. August seems to be a great month to stay at either one of these luxury hotels for extremely discounted rates. Both hotels offer the First Family Package, which includes a one-bedroom suite, breakfast, valet parking, a kid’s patriotic backpack, complimentary in-house movie, complimentary Internet, and a hotel scavenger hunt. If you are a luxury bargain hunter, starting rates at Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C., are about $70 lower than the Georgetown property. Both hotels are offering a special four nights for the price of three this summer.
Go ahead! Live life to the fullest in luxury surroundings, and enjoy touring our nation’s capital this summer.
