Heart of Haiti Collection – Gifts with Purpose

Holiday Gifts with Purpose

Despite the devastating 2010 earthquake, Haitian artisans continue to create art that reflects their rich culture and history. Heart of Haiti collection brings these traditional, handcrafted treasures to Macy’s, the collection has beautiful works of art, from paper mache serving trays and sandstone bookends in vibrant colors, to metal work mirrors and wall plaques, each one-of-a-kind piece is handcrafted by Haitian artists. The products make perfect Holiday gifts with purpose and by purchasing from the Heart of Haiti collection you will help Haitian artisans and their families. This initiative has already helped to feed, clothe and educate more than 5,000 Haitians. Purchasing one of these handcrafted gift items directly benefits Haitian artisans by allowing them to support their families with dignity and purpose. It’s not an aid program – it’s about offering the people a way to work and earn a living making it much more sustainable than an aid program could be. See the entire Heart of Haiti collection here and the photo above has some of my favorite gift ideas for this Holiday season.

  1. As you know Katja, I have a working relationship with Macy’s as well but truth? Having traveled to Haiti now, twice, and seeing the impact this program has on artists and their families in Haiti means that even if I didn’t have a working relationship, I would pour my heart and soul into supporting Heart of Haiti. And it’s blog posts like yours that bring attention to Macy’s. That encourage others to visit the line and perhaps even buy something, purchasing a gift that gives back in many many ways. Thanks for your support.
