One of the mistakes, in my opinion, that I made when I decorated and purchased dishes for my first home was making everything match…a little bit too much. If I could do it all over again, and I suppose I will be able to soon because we have a planned move to Colorado next year, I would focus more on bright clean colors and not worrying about color coordinating everything.
When I look at already decorated kitchens I have noticed that the ones I love the most are the ones that aren’t perfectly coordinated. Lots of colors and beautiful things but no set color scheme. I guess what I’m saying is that when I see a person’s home the ones I find really beautiful are the ones that are filled with things that the owner loves. It all comes together with a beautiful eclectic feel, yet it feels warm and like home because they choose items that mean something to them instead of something just for the sake of matching the room decor.
That’s what I really love about this Baja Recycled Glass Barware, available at Pottery Barn. They come in such a variety of colors that they could go with any decor. Right now there are only 4 colors available: amber, blue, kelly green, and red. Available in two sizes, double old fashioned (10 ounces) and highball (16 ounces). From the photos is looks like there were originally 6 colors available. They are sold in sets of six, but I wish they were sold individually because I’d like one in every color.
