HELLO GORGEOUS. IS IT TIME TO REDEFINE WHAT LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST MEANS?

When the opportunity knocks, are you ready?

Are you ready when the opportunity knocks? Often on Fridays I send out a newsletter (subscribe it here, next Friday I will be giving a free copy of my ebook in my newsletter, great time to sign up). With newsletter I aim to inspire people to make their dreams to reality and I share the ways I have been able to accomplish something small (or big), or how we can find inspiration from around us. Last week I shared one of the biggest mistakes I did when starting my company, because I would have liked to know not to do it, before I did it! Today I am not sending out a newsletter, but I am writing this post instead to encourage you to think if you are ready when the opportunity knocks. Usually when we make big life plans, things don’t happen fast, quite the contrary, they happen often painfully slow. You have to build up, save up, educate yourself, train yourself, practice a little more, and scratch plan A and move to plan B. But sometimes life drops you unexpected opportunities and possibilities, and you have to act fast, or you will miss it. I was reminded by this by a fun Heineken “Dropped” campaign, where they drop people in different locations in the world and they are given a task to finish. Like this photographer from South Africa who was dropped in Poland and given a mission to put together a circus group and perform in Berlin. Watch the video below.
No, I am not asking if are you ready to put together a real circus performance, or to be literally dropped from an airplane, but if I think back to my life, I’ve had several equally crazy (to me) opportunities in life, and the only ones I regret are the ones I didn’t take (only if my parents had let me move to Japan when I was 15 when Eileen Ford herself asked me). And my life has been altered by the opportunities I did take.

Legends aren’t born, they’re dropped

The only way to live live to the fullest is to be ready for the legendary moments and opportunities that life brings along. Although the “Legends aren’t born, they’re dropped” is just a marketing message of a beer company, it rings more true than you’d like to admit. The legendary stories we tell from our travels and our lives usually don’t start “it went exactly as we planned” but more often “we had no idea it was going to happen”. Many might argue and say that some people just were born to be more adventurous and they attract the adventure. I partially agree, ultimately it IS up to you, but the question isn’t if you attract the opportunities, but the real question is are you ready when it knocks. Because everyone gets life changing opportunities and legendary moments if you just know how to recognize them and how to have guts to take them when they appear. I would love to tell you examples how I have taken the opportunity when it has knocked, but that’s what my newsletter is for. I’m just ending today with a corny confession – the best opportunity that ever knocked in my life was when I saw a cute guy in an Irish Pub in Frankfurt am Main 16 years ago, he is my husband now. There was no beer involved, but there could have been.
