Part of being a
Hellmann’s Club Sandwich team blogger is sharing some of my best sandwich recipes. This one is my son’s favorite sandwich and we made these for a recent party we had. They are super simple, and my son actually makes them himself for school lunch. These are also great for summer backyard parties with ginger ale, lemonade or sweet tea.
CUCUMBER HAM SANDWICHES
Makes 9 out of one baguette.
French baguette (sliced and halved)
Hellmann’s Mayonnaise
Boar’s Head Black Forest Ham, 3/4 lbs
Finlandia Swiss Cheese slices, 1/2 package
3/4 English cucumber thinly sliced
Butter lettuce
If you use an entire French baguette, you get around 9 sandwiches. If you use Finlandia ready sliced Swiss cheese, the slices are pretty large and you could even half them. If you are only making one sandwich, use about 3 slices of ham, 1 slice of cheese, and 4 slices of cucumber on each, and spread mayonnaise on both sides of the sandwich halves. Garnish with butter lettuce and you are done.
Our motto is that the more cucumber the better, and usually also the thinner they are sliced the better but I was in a hurry to cut them for these in the picture and they are not thin enough for our taste. What can we learn from this? Even making the simplest sandwiches is a form of art.
Disclosure: I am one of the Hellmann’s Club Sandwich bloggers and got some free mayo, but we only buy Hellmann’s and my opinions and my sandwich is my own.
